NO-GI & SUBMISSION GRAPPLING
No Gi? No Problem.
Submission Grappling is essentially Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practiced without the gi/kimono. Students wear rashguards and fight shorts, practicing the same fundamental techniques as they would in the gi, though with many new and exciting adaptations to fighting without relying on the use of grips.
Students will find that Professor Salvosa’s hands-on approach to No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu/Submission Grappling is agile, creative and highly transferable to the other areas where grappling is needed: street defense, BJJ in the gi/kimono and MMA. Utilizing innovative approaches to fighting in the No-Gi/Submission Grappling discipline and strong physical conditioning, Professor Salvosa’s teaching and training style will impart the best foundation on which students can develop true skills.
No-Gi is an area of particular specialization for Professor Salvosa, having captured an IBJJF World Title and Pan American Championship in the Black Belt Masters division.
Students training in both BJJ (Gi) and Submission Grappling (No-Gi) will enjoy well-rounded development to their game, adaptable to self-defense situations encompassing all seasons of the year (opponents wear clothing similar to a Gi during colder weather and No-Gi during the warmer months) knowing BJJ in Toronto will help with your confidence when walking down the street whether warm or cold.
